Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has announced the formation of an 11-member committee to oversee activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of Oyo State.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by his Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, the governor appointed Hon. Saheed Fijabi, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the Chairman of the committee.
The statement added that the appointment takes immediate effect.
Other members of the committee include former Head of Service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola, who will serve as Deputy Chairman; Dr Z.O. Ajuwon, Mustapha Razaq Areo, Alhaja Fatimah Ololade Azeez, S.A. Adejumo, and Pastor John Olasunkanmi Alabi.
Also appointed were Alhaji A.K. Bello, Mrs Ronke Adedayo as Secretary, Compol Fatai Owoseni (rtd), and Mr Samuel Adegboyega Badejo, the Director-General of Protocol.
The committee is expected to plan and coordinate activities that will reflect the state’s achievements, unity, and cultural heritage over the past five decades.
Governor Makinde’s directive emphasised that the committee should begin work immediately to ensure a successful commemoration of Oyo’s golden jubilee.
