Makinde approves N214m for HoS quarters reconstruction
The Governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde, has approved ¦ 214.15 million for the reconstruction of the official residence of the state’s Head of Service. The project, which has been abandoned for several years, is expected to be completed within six months.
This was revealed in a statement on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, following the 14th State Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday.
Oyelade stated that the project highlights the administration’s dedication to strengthening the civil service and its leadership.
He further explained that the deteriorating quarters, which had been uninhabitable for a number of years, would be renovated into a modern and comfortable residence, reflecting the revitalisation of the civil and public service in the state.
“The neglected official quarters of the Head of Service will be a symbol of the respect this administration has for the civil service and its leadership,” Oyelade commented.
Additionally, the council approved upgrades to the Iwo Road Roundabout and expanded the scope of the ongoing reconstruction of the Adegbayi Junction-Bus Terminal-Iwo Road Interchange along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway. Oyelade pointed out that the expansion aims to alleviate persistent traffic congestion during peak hours and reduce flooding at the roundabout during rainfall.
The council also approved a comprehensive statewide free medical mission targeting all 33 local government areas. The initiative seeks to reduce mortality from communicable diseases and will offer free surgeries, eye care services, cervical cancer screenings, and health education.
“The medical mission is part of efforts to enhance healthcare access and lower mortality rates across the state,” the commissioner added
