Facebook recently hosted its first-ever Facebook Lounge experience during the three exciting days of Lagos Fashion Week 2025, creating an immersive space that celebrated creativity, connection, and community among young adults, designers, creators, and fashion enthusiasts.
The experience highlighted the growing trend of young adults using Facebook to discover new interests, express themselves, and connect with the world. It also showcased the powerful Facebook tools that empower creators to engage meaningfully with their audiences and grow their passions into viable opportunities.
Oluwasola Obagbemi, Head of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa, at Meta, emphasized the platform’s role in cultural moments.
“Facebook is a leading place for conversations around cultural moments, not just here in Nigeria but across the globe. Events like Lagos Fashion Week highlight how our platform brings people together to celebrate creativity, culture and community in real time,” Obagbemi said.
She further noted her inspiration by how young adults in Nigeria are leveraging Facebook tools. Fashion has, in fact, become the largest category on Facebook Marketplace in Nigeria, demonstrating how users are utilizing Marketplace, Reels, and Groups to express themselves, build communities, and convert their passions into opportunities.
Obagbemi affirmed the company’s commitment to introducing features that help people explore their interests and connect more deeply with others.
Throughout the three-day event, media presenter and content creator Joseph Onaolapo (Jay On-Air) and fashion creator Nonye Udeogu (Thisthingcalledfashion) hosted live interviews and social moments directly from the Lounge. These interactions gave audiences an authentic look at how creators utilize features like Groups, Reels, and Meta AI to build meaningful connections and thriving communities on Facebook.
The Facebook Lounge itself served as an interactive hub where Nigerian celebrities, creators, and fashion enthusiasts gathered to relax, network, and generate memorable content. Guests enjoyed interactive photo sessions, Facebook-themed games, and the engaging Reels Booth, where attendees captured short-form videos that perfectly encapsulated the creativity and energy of Lagos Fashion Week.
Facebook remains committed to empowering people to explore their interests, build community, and connect with the world in more meaningful ways.
