Lagos woman arraigned for allegedly diverting N8.8m company funds

A 41-year-old woman, Oluwakemi Gbadebo, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly embezzling N8.8 million from her employer over a two-year period.

Gbadebo, whose residential address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi.

She pleaded not guilty to both charges.

The prosecuting officer, Inspector Josephine Ikhayere, informed the court that the alleged offences occurred between 2022 and 2024 at Remedial Health Solution Ltd., located on Abisogun Leigh Street, Ogba, Lagos.

Ikhayere alleged that Gbadebo, in collaboration with others who are still at large, redirected company funds into her personal account.

“She diverted a total sum of N8.8 million, belonging to her employer, for personal use,” the prosecutor told the court.

According to Ikhayere, the offences contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Owolabi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1.5 million, with two sureties in the same amount.

The case was adjourned to 1 July 2025 for mention.
