Gloria Ndidi Alu, a Lagos resident, has raised serious concerns over threats to her life and the safety of her family after exposing what she describes as a corporate scheme to launder public funds.

Alu, who resides at Plot 8, Bunmi Olowude Street, Lekki Phase 1, says the threats began shortly after she uncovered documents allegedly showing that Company funds were being diverted into private accounts through her company’s corporate accounts for illegal use.

Her refusal to cooperate and her decision to blow the whistle reportedly caused an internal audit, which identified certain individuals allegedly involved in the fraud.

However, she claims that instead of justice, she has faced retaliation, fear, and attempts to silence her.

“It is with great regret, depression, grief, and fear that I speak out. My life and that of my family are in danger,” Alu said in a statement.

Alu described a series of disturbing incidents that she believes are directly connected to her role in exposing the alleged financial misconduct.

On August 4, 2024, at around 7:50 p.m., Alu says she was followed by a green-tinted saloon car while driving home. In an attempt to evade the vehicle, she deliberately changed her route, but the car continued to tail her. Eventually, it accelerated aggressively, nearly forcing her off the road.

“It was clear they wanted to harm me. I was lucky to escape with my life, but I ended up in an accident. Before anyone could intervene, they fled the scene,” she said.

Eight days later, on August 12, 2024, Alu returned home at around 9:30 p.m. to find her apartment had been broken into. She reported that her Laptop, Personal identification documents, desk radio, broken phone, and an electronic watch were stolen. The intruders had forcibly broken into doors, wardrobes, and cabinets, leaving the apartment thoroughly ransacked.

“It wasn’t just theft. They wanted something or wanted to scare me into silence. I felt completely violated,” she said.

These incidents have left Alu traumatized and fearful, yet determined to speak out before anything worse happens.

“I know what I saw. I know what I reported. If anything happens to me, the truth must not die with me.” She said.

Alu is appealing to law enforcement agencies, anti-corruption bodies, and human rights organizations to urgently investigate the threats and provide protection for her and her family.
