Lagos Ministry of Women Affairs marks 2026 International Women’s day

‎The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, under the leadership of Commissioner Hon. Bolaji Dada, has reiterated the Lagos State Government’s commitment to advancing the rights and empowerment of women and girls as the state celebrates International Women’s Day 2026.

‎The event themed “Rights. Justice. Action, for ALL Women and Girls” with the campaign focus #GiveToGain nderscores the ministry’s drive to strengthen women’s access to justice, promote gender equity and ensure measurable actions toward inclusive development across the state.

‎In a statement issued on Sunday to mark the global celebration, Commissioner Dada highlighted the importance of the theme, saying it “underscores the critical importance of safeguarding the rights of women and girls, strengthening access to justice, and taking deliberate, measurable actions to ensure inclusive and sustainable development."

‎She added that the campaign focus, #GiveToGain, “reinforces the principle that sustained investment in women and girls through education, economic empowerment, protection services, and structured social support systems yields long-term benefits for families, communities, and the state at large."

‎Commissioner Dada reiterated that empowering women is not only a societal responsibility but also a strategic pathway to economic growth and stability. She noted that the Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu, has continued to implement programmes and policies aimed at protecting women’s rights, promoting economic inclusion, and strengthening institutional responses to gender‑based violence.

‎She also commended women across Lagos State for their resilience and contributions to societal development, urging residents to uphold the ideals of the International Women’s Day theme in both policy and practice transforming commitments to gender equality into concrete actions that improve the lives of women and girls worldwide.

‎Commissioner Dada reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to protecting women’s rights and advancing empowerment initiatives, saying the government will continue to prioritize policies that support women’s participation in leadership, education, and economic development.
