The Lagos State Government has dismissed reports circulating on some online platforms suggesting a rift between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ogun State counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The denial was contained in a press statement issued by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, signed by Gbenga Akosile.
According to the statement, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s attention was drawn to the reports insinuating a breakdown in the relationship between both leaders, stressing that the narrative does not reflect reality.
“We wish to state clearly that this is not true. In fact, it is the direct opposite of the relationship that exists between the two leaders,” the statement said.
The Lagos State Government emphasised that Governor Sanwo-Olu and Prince Abiodun maintain a cordial and brotherly relationship, noting that both governors meet regularly and consult frequently on issues of mutual interest.
The statement added that the close relationship is driven by the shared boundaries between Lagos and Ogun states, as well as common socio-cultural ties that bind the two states.
“The two brother-Governors meet regularly and speak with each other frequently on matters of mutual interest for the development of their respective states,” it stated.
The government also cautioned individuals and platforms allegedly spreading the reports to desist from what it described as attempts to sow discord between the two leaders.
According to the statement, both governors remain united by a common vision of improving the welfare of their people and fostering development in their respective states.
