Preliminary investigations revealed that the child sustained physical injuries after his biological mother allegedly used a blade to inflict wounds on his body over accusations that he stole money from her.

The matter was charged to court on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and heard before a Magistrate Court in Lagos State.
Following court proceedings, the court ordered that the survivor and his sibling be placed in protective custody at an approved child protection facility to guarantee their safety and welfare.
The defendant, however, was granted bail under stipulated conditions, while the case was adjourned till July 23, 2026, for further hearing.
The DSVA commended the swift response of community members, law enforcement officers, and child protection stakeholders, noting that their timely intervention contributed significantly to the safety of the child and the prompt progression of the case through due legal process.

The agency also urged residents to promptly report cases of domestic and sexual violence through its designated helplines or official communication channels.
