Lagos Aviation Academy wins ‘Aviation School of the Year’ award

The Lagos Aviation Academy (LAA) has been named ‘Aviation School of the Year’ at the Travellers Award 2024/2025.

News Men report that the award was organised by African Travel Quarterly (ATQ News) with the 21st Akwaaba African Travel Market.

The Travellers Award 2025, now in its 13th edition, recognises leaders and innovators in travel, tourism, hospitality, and aviation across the African continent.

Head of School at LAA, Mr Bolaji Durojaiye, said the Academy was intentional about equipping aviation students with the skills required for global competitiveness.

“Beyond academic excellence, we are committed to preparing our students with confidence and practical skills to excel in the aviation sector,” Durojaiye stated.

He added that the award belonged not only to the Academy but also to every graduate representing Nigeria positively both locally and internationally.

“The recognition celebrates our dedication to aviation training excellence, our role in nurturing future aviation professionals, and our contribution to Nigeria’s growing aviation ecosystem,” he said.

According to him, LAA’s programmes are fully accredited by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

He noted that the institution recently expanded its curriculum beyond regular courses in cabin crew training, flight dispatch, and flight operations.

Newly introduced programmes include the Basic Aircraft Technician Course, Aviation Stores Management, and Travel Agency Management, designed to address emerging industry needs.

Durojaiye said LAA graduates were contributing significantly to Nigeria’s economy through enhanced service delivery, operational efficiency, and professional excellence across airlines, travel firms, and other aviation-related businesses.

Mr Bankole Bernard, President of the Association of Aviation Training Organisations of Nigeria (AATON) and Group Managing Director of Finchglow Holdings, also commended the Academy.

He said LAA represented the excellence-driven and forward-thinking approach needed to strengthen the aviation sector and support Nigeria’s economic growth.

“We are proud to see LAA receive this well-deserved recognition,” Bernard added.
