Lagos Assembly trains staff on leadership, human resource dev't

The Lagos State House of Assembly has commenced a three-day retreat aimed at boosting staff productivity, building leadership capacity, and reinforcing institutional values.
The retreat, which opened on Sunday at Orchid Hotel, Lekki, is themed “Leading with Purpose: The Power of Humility, Growth Mindset.” It will run in three batches and is expected to end on October 8, 2025.
Declaring the programme open, the Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko, urged participants to remain committed throughout the sessions.
He said: “I urge everyone here to remain focused and attentive during the lectures.
“The Lagos State House of Assembly leadership will not hesitate to train and retrain its staff, because you are the engine that drives this institution.”
The retreat is organised in collaboration with Trastal Link Training Ltd and HybiTel Limited, firms recognised for capacity building, leadership training, and institutional development.
Facilitators at the event include respected public service veterans such as Mr. Bashir Braimoh, Retired Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Civil Service; Mr. Tunji Bakare, Retired Director, Ministry of Information and Strategy; Mrs. Hamza Amina Yeside, Deputy Director (Administration & Human Resources), Public Service Office; and Mrs. Aderonke Faseru, Creative Director, Manners and Conduct Character Center.
Throughout the training, participants are being engaged in interactive workshops, real-world case studies, and practical discussions designed to sharpen leadership effectiveness, foster humility in service, and encourage adaptability in today’s evolving public sector.
The Assembly leadership said the initiative reflects its continued investment in professional development.
“This retreat is more than a training exercise; it is a reaffirmation of our unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous growth of our workforce,” the organisers stated.
