Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building a digitally empowered population as the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI) held its AI Literacy Workshop for parents and youths.
This was made known by the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, who was represented by the Chairman, State Youth Technical Working Committee, Com. Abdulkareem Abdulkareem.
He delivered a goodwill message emphasizing the alignment between the workshop and the current administration’s digital agenda.
In his words, the Commissioner described the programme as “a timely initiative that strongly aligns with the vision of the present administration to build a digitally skilled and globally competitive generation in Kwara State.”
He commended the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative and the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation for investing in digital education, noting that such partnerships reflect the innovative collaborations the government continues to encourage as it expands digital infrastructure and opportunities for young people.
According to him, preparing parents, youths, and community influencers for the realities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer optional but essential, as AI continues to reshape learning, communication, business, and governance across the world.
He urged participants to engage fully and apply the knowledge gained to improve their communities and tap into emerging economic opportunities.
Earlier, the Executive Director of the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, Barr. Nurah Jimoh-Sanni, appreciated participants on behalf of the Founder and Global Director, Mr. Abideen Olasupo.
She noted that the workshop was part of the organization’s broader mission to democratize digital knowledge and ensure that African families, especially at the community level, are not left behind in the global technology shift.
She encouraged parents and youths to take the training seriously: “Artificial Intelligence is no longer a distant concept; it is already shaping the world our children are growing into, and at BBYDI, our goal is to ensure every household understands these tools, uses them responsibly, and sees them as opportunities rather than threats. We believe informed families build informed societies.”
She further applauded the State Government for its continued support in strengthening youth development and digital inclusion programmes across the State.
The event featured practical sessions, interactive demonstrations, and discussions designed to equip participants with basic AI literacy skills.
