The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to improving the welfare of state workers and pensioners to accelerate its developmental agenda and ensure better living conditions for citizens.
The State Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, disclosed this while speaking on the anniversary of the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, highlighting the regular payment of salaries and other welfare packages for the state workforce.
According to her, this development reflects the governor’s consistent commitment to the welfare of workers and the prudent management of the state’s resources.
She commended the governor for prioritizing the well-being of civil servants and creating an enabling environment that motivates workers across the state.
Dr. Nuru stressed that the recent approval for the implementation of the 30% Peculiar Allowance, effective June 1 for government agencies, parastatals, and media houses, remains a cornerstone of the administration’s welfare efforts.
She noted that this approval follows the earlier implementation of the 30% Peculiar Allowance for core civil servants, as well as the upward review of the Teachers’ Specific Allowance (TSA) and other sector-specific allowances approved for different professional groups within the public service.
The Commissioner explained that these interventions clearly demonstrate the administration’s deliberate efforts to improve workers’ welfare, boost morale, and enhance service delivery across all sectors.
In her words, “Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has continued to demonstrate exceptional commitment to the welfare of workers through timely salary payments and progressive welfare policies aimed at improving the standard of living of workers across the board.”
She added that the administration remains committed to sustaining prudent financial management while ensuring that workers continue to benefit from the gains of good governance.
She urged workers to reciprocate the government’s support by demonstrating dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to efficient service delivery.
