Kwara APC presents INEC form to Danladi as guber candidate

The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has presented the governorship form of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Saliu Yakubu Danladi.

To ensure unity moving forward, the party’s state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, announced that a reconciliation committee would be established.

This committee will address the grievances of aspirants who were dissatisfied with the outcomes of the party primaries last May, with the ultimate goal of bringing them back into the fold.

The party primaries, particularly the selection of Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s preferred successor, Speaker Yakubu Salihu Danladi, had previously set the stage for internal polarization.

Speaking in Ilorin on Tuesday during the presentation of the form to the party’s candidate, Fagbemi noted that some supporters of the aggrieved governorship aspirants had engaged in social media wars against both the governor and Danladi-Salihu.

Fagbemi, acting on the directives of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, officially presented the INEC governorship form to Danladi-Salihu at the APC secretariat in Ilorin.

He confirmed that the national chairman had instructed the state chapter to set up a strong reconciliation committee to ensure the return of aggrieved members.

According to Fagbemi, the APC remains a large family, and the party is committed to bringing back those who left due to grievances, emphasizing that all candidates must unite for victory.

He further explained that tension within the party had been high before the approval and official announcement of Danladi.

Fagbemi clarified that while the primaries had concluded earlier, the APC national headquarters had initially restricted the state chapter from announcing the winners.

However, following the conclusion of the review process, the national body authorized the state to declare Danladi as the official candidate.

He added that the APC Appeal Committee had thoroughly reviewed the petitions filed by various aspirants across multiple positions before releasing the approved list. The state chapter is now tasked with distributing the INEC forms to the successful candidates for completion, upload, and submission to the electoral umpire.

While commending loyal party members, the Speaker and governorship candidate, Honourable Danladi-Salihu, assured the party and the state of fair play and a commitment to continuous regional development.

He pleaded for the cooperation of all stakeholders and reiterated that the reconciliation committee would effectively address the complaints of all aggrieved aspirants.
