The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has approved the withdrawal of 273 students for poor academic performance.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by Mrs Uredo Omale, the institution’s Director of Public Relations and Protocol.

According to the statement, the Board also expelled six students over their involvement in examination malpractice. The decisions were reached during the 120th meeting of the Academic Board, chaired by the Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman.

Commending the efforts of the Academic Board Result Verification Committee, led by Dr Samuel Taiwo Olowo, the Deputy Rector, Professor Usman urged the team to sustain its diligence in upholding academic standards.

“The Polytechnic has provided an enabling environment for learning. It is disheartening that some students still perform below expectation,” the Rector said.

He reiterated the institution’s resolve to pursue reforms that would enhance academic excellence and instil discipline across all programmes.

The Polytechnic advised all affected students to return all school property, including identity cards, to the security unit before exiting the campus.
