The Kogi State Government has responded to a viral voice note attributed to a female civil servant concerning the alleged exclusion of Ebira youths from employment opportunities within the state’s civil service. In a formal press release issued on Saturday, April 11, 2026, the government clarified its stance on freedom of expression and administrative inclusivity.

Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, through the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, emphasized that while civil servants are expected to use established institutional channels for grievances, the administration will not persecute citizens for expressing their personal views.

“His Excellency has directed that the concerned civil servant be accorded full protection,” the statement read, adding that the Governor has also mandated the Civil Service to strengthen internal feedback mechanisms to ensure grievances are addressed effectively.

The government expressed regret that the issue had been sensationalized by certain groups to inflame public sentiment. It reiterated that the Ododo administration is firmly anchored on equity and merit, ensuring that all parts of the state are fairly represented based on competence and available resources.

The statement concluded by calling for calm among residents and urging the public to disregard misinformation. It assured citizens that constructive dialogue and the rule of law remain the guiding principles for the state’s progress.
