Kogi gov’t plans coal-to-power energy project

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has announced plans to harness the state’s abundant coal deposits for independent electricity generation, aiming to tackle long-standing power deficits and accelerate industrial development across the state.

Under this initiative, the state government intends to partner with technical investors to establish a dedicated coal-to-power infrastructure that will stabilize local energy supply and support emerging industrial hubs.

Alongside the energy initiative, Governor Ododo disclosed an upcoming mass recruitment exercise designed to bolster the state’s workforce.

The employment drive focuses on filling critical personnel shortages across essential public sectors, primarily education, healthcare, and civil service administration.

Together, the power project and recruitment drive form part of the administration’s broader economic revitalization agenda to boost job creation, enhance public service delivery, and improve the living standards of Kogi residents.
