Katsina: Rep member pays NECO fees for 50 students, supports corps members

A House of Representatives member representing Mashi/Dutsi constituency in Katsina, Salisu Yusuf-Majigiri, has paid NECO registration fees for 50 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Shargalle.
The lawmaker also supported volunteer teachers and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in schools across the constituency.
The Personal Assistant to the lawmaker, Mubarak Tanimu disclosed this during a gathering at the school premises on Tuesday in Shargalle.
According to him, the support to teachers and corps members aimed to encourage their commitment to grassroots education.
He said the gesture by his boss to pay registration fees for students, aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and ensuring indigent students sit for the 2026 examinations without hindrance.
“Investing in education is one of the most effective ways to secure a brighter future for our young people,” he said.
He noted that education remained a key priority of his representation, adding that his office would continue to expand access to quality learning opportunities.
He said that since assuming office, he had fully sponsored 100 students at Isa Kaita College of Education, Dutsinma, to obtain the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).
According to him, all the beneficiaries graduated this year with impressive results.
Tanimu explained that the lawmaker had also paid medical bills for many patients, facilitated Federal Government’s jobs for youths, empowered women and artisans with various support items.
He added that Majigiri had provided boreholes to communities facing water shortages, supported farmers with agricultural inputs, constructed and rehabilitated classrooms across the constituency.
According to him, the lawmaker had also donated teaching materials to schools and supported religious and community development projects.
He explained that the legislature’s contributions to the education sector had earned him the nickname “Mr Education” among some constituents.
Tanimu reaffirmed his boss’ commitment to prioritising education, healthcare, youth empowerment and infrastructure development in Mashi and Dutsi Local Government Areas.
