Kaduna surpassing previous standards under current administration - Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has asserted that Kaduna State has undergone a significant transformation since the beginning of his tenure, successfully moving past the security hurdles and infrastructure deficits that previously hindered its growth.

Speaking on Sunday at a senior government officials' workshop organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Sani noted that while he inherited a state with immense potential, it was one heavily burdened by social and safety challenges that required urgent attention.

The Governor emphasized that his administration moved away from minor, incremental adjustments in favor of a disciplined reorientation of governance itself.

He highlighted the institutionalization of a performance framework centered on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure that every state agency operates with clear goals and accountability.

This agenda is built upon seven interconnected strategic pillars, including safety and security, infrastructure development, agriculture, and human capital development, which function as a coherent system to transform Kaduna into a secure and inclusive society.

Regarding security gains, Governor Sani provided specific details on safety improvements, noting that the state has collaborated with the military and the Office of the National Security Adviser to establish new bases in high-risk zones such as Southern Kaduna, Giwa, and Birnin Gwari.

To support these efforts, the government deployed 500 motorcycles and over 150 operational vehicles to various security agencies.

These efforts have led to the reclamation of 20,000 hectares of farmland previously inaccessible due to banditry and the establishment of the first forensic laboratory in Northern Nigeria to enhance investigative capabilities.

In the education sector, the Governor touted major advancements, revealing that his administration has constructed 736 new classrooms and renovated 1,200 others.

To improve the quality of instruction, the state recruited 10,000 new teachers and provided modern digital skills training to over 33,000 education personnel.

While acknowledging that challenges remain, Governor Sani maintained that the "Kaduna Peace Model" has successfully restored confidence among citizens and businesses, asserting that the state is now set to attain even higher heights.
