JUST IN: Tinubu swears in Prof Joash Amupitan as new INEC Chair

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in Professor Joash Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, following Amupitan’s confirmation by the Senate earlier in the week.

Professor Amupitan, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Professor of Law at the University of Jos (UNIJOS), hails from Ayetoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

He specialises in company law, evidence law, corporate governance, and privatisation law, and was elevated to the rank of SAN in 2014.
