Jigawa Govt, Azman Uni partner to advance education development

The Jigawa State Government has announced its collaboration with Azman University to expand educational opportunities and foster human capital development.

Governor Umar Namadi made this known during a courtesy visit by the Vice-Chancellor of Azman University, Professor Fatima-Batool Mukhtar, on Thursday in Dutse.

He stated that the state government would explore avenues of cooperation to support innovative learning initiatives and sponsor students in specialised programmes aimed at enhancing skill acquisition.

The governor noted that the collaboration would prioritise fields such as computing, data science, aviation management, and artificial intelligence (AI).

“I assure you that the Jigawa State Government remains committed to being a dependable partner in this endeavour,” Namadi affirmed.

He acknowledged the importance of the university’s specialised programmes and reiterated the government’s dedication to providing educational opportunities for underprivileged students.

Namadi also commended the introduction of innovative online courses designed to attract both students and scholars to the institution.

Earlier, Professor Mukhtar reaffirmed Azman University’s commitment to delivering quality education, fostering innovation, and achieving academic excellence.

She highlighted the institution’s adoption of online learning services, the introduction of a compulsory e-learning week, and the establishment of a Students’ Consultative Forum to ensure student participation in decision-making.

“We have online platforms that enable students to attend lectures remotely, while lecturers can also conduct classes from their respective locations. To ensure students and staff adapt to this, we have instituted a mandatory e-learning week each semester,” she explained.

She further called for increased collaboration in computer programming, particularly with renowned industry leaders such as Cisco, Huawei, and Oracle Academy.

“Your Excellency, Azman University is rapidly gaining prominence in computing programmes. We are already registered with Cisco, Huawei, and Oracle Academy, and our instructors are certified by Huawei.

“Therefore, we seek your partnership in community development projects and youth skills training initiatives, particularly in certified computing courses,” Mukhtar stated.

The Vice-Chancellor also commended the Jigawa State Government for allocating 32 per cent of the 2025 budget to the education sector and providing a N3 billion grant to the Scholarship Board for the fiscal year.
