Former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, has dismissed reports claiming he stated that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is still a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jamoh, a chieftain of the APC, described the reports as false and misleading, stressing that he never made such a remark at any press conference or to any media organisation.

Recent media publications alleged that Jamoh made the statement in Kaduna, amid growing speculation over El-Rufai’s political alignment. El-Rufai had earlier resigned from the APC and initially joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) before moving to the National Coalition of Opposition Parties, which has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Jamoh urged the public to disregard the reports, describing them as fabricated and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts. He reaffirmed his commitment to truth, accountability, and responsible public engagement.
