The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with the State Security Council and the National President of the Consultative Council on Community Policing has established regulated operating hours for commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators to curtail the activities of criminal elements.

To this end, the state government has directed commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators to strictly comply with approved operating hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The State Commissioner for Transportation, Lafia Korasabi, announced this during a consultative meeting in Ilorin, stating that the directive is essential to safeguard the security of residents.

He explained that the ongoing data-capturing exercise for motorcycle operators is designed to strengthen security and prevent hoodlums from hijacking the transport sector.

Korasabi noted that effective enforcement of the new hours, uniform identification codes, and heightened vigilance will help prevent criminal elements from exploiting the transport industry.

He urged transport union leaders to support government policies aimed at improving security across the state.

Reiterating the state government’s commitment to tackling insecurity, Korasabi assured residents that authorities would not relent in their responsibilities and will continue collaborating with relevant stakeholders to protect lives and property.
