The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced the public display of personal particulars of candidates nominated by political parties for the 2027 General Elections in the Federal Capital Territory.

The exercise began on Friday at the INEC State Head Office in Abuja and simultaneously across the six Area Council offices in the FCT, in line with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026.

Representing the Resident Electoral Commissioner, FCT, the Administrative Secretary, Mrs. Bimbo Oladunjoye, said the display is a statutory requirement to promote transparency and allow members of the public to scrutinise the credentials and documents submitted by candidates.

She explained that the display covers Presidential candidates and National Assembly candidates contesting elections in the FCT.

According to her, the simultaneous display across all INEC offices in the six Area Councils is to ensure easy access for citizens.

Mrs. Oladunjoye described the exercise as an important part of the electoral process that enhances openness, accountability and public confidence.

She urged citizens, political parties, civil society organisations, the media and other stakeholders to examine the information on display.

“The Commission is on course with its preparations for the 2027 General Elections and will continue to carry out every stage of the electoral process in accordance with the Constitution, the Electoral Act, 2026, and the Commission’s Regulations and Guidelines,” she said.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, credible and transparent elections and called for stakeholder support to ensure a successful process.

The display of candidates’ personal particulars is one of the key activities in INEC’s Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections.
