Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday dismissed social media reports claiming that he had collapsed the previous week, stating that with God’s help, he would be signing condolence messages for those who had wished him dead.
He disclosed that he’s healthier than those who wish him dead, denying reports that he collapsed and was flown abroad for treatment last week.
The rumours which emerged last week claimed that Wike suffered a partial stroke due to excessive alcohol consumption.
Wike, while speaking on the matter on Thursday described the speculations as baseless orchestrated by his enemies.
According to him, while health issues can affect anyone, he has not experienced any collapse as claimed by some individuals.
Wike explained that the recent incident involving a former head of service of Rivers State, and the alleged plan to bomb the House of Assembly complex and attack national assets, was the real reason for the attention drawn to him.
He stated that in an effort to divert public focus from these serious issues, the introduction of health rumours, such as his alleged collapse, was strategically used.
Addressing the public, Wike expressed gratitude for the concern shown by Nigerians, but urged people not to wish ill upon others.
He reminded everyone that while death is inevitable, only God has the authority to determine when someone’s time will come.
He also reaffirmed that he remains focused on his duties and is not distracted by the false narratives circulating.
