I called Oyetola, Oyebamiji but got no response — Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has revealed that his direct telephone calls to his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, were met with no response as part of his ongoing post-election reconciliation efforts.

Adeleke disclosed this against the backdrop of Osun State’s 35th anniversary, during which he alleged that he reached out to key political leaders and former governors to de-escalate political tensions and foster state-wide unity.

While his attempts to engage Oyetola and Oyebamiji on the phone yielded no response, the Governor revealed that he held extensive discussions with former Governors Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

During his talks with Chief Akande, the Governor narrated that he empahsized on the urgent need to rebuild elite consensus, heal electoral grievances, and unite communities polarized by the contentious election period.

He noted that he further conveyed a similar message of reconciliation and solidarity to both Oyinlola and Aregbesola, acknowledging their contributions to the state’s development.

Speaking on his outreach, Adeleke stressed that the political contest is over and reiterated that the post-election phase requires collective leadership rather than partisan division.

“We are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the creation of our dear state. So, it is customary that I felicitate with leaders from various groups. I commended them for their contributions to state developments. Then, my central message is to preach and act for peace and reconciliation. I repeated my earlier statement that there is no victor, no vanquished. Election has come and gone and it is time for us to return to governance and healing of electoral wounds,” Adeleke said.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to the peace-building mandate requested by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he will not relent in extending an olive branch across party lines to ensure stability and uninterrupted governance across Osun State.
