Hilda Baci completes jollof rice world record attempt, awaits Guinness confirmation

Celebrity chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has successfully completed her attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
The marathon cook-off, which began on Friday and stretched into Saturday morning, drew more than 20,000 spectators, including food lovers, influencers and celebrities.
Before lighting the burners, Baci washed the massive red pot herself and assured the crowd that hygiene and quality would not be compromised. “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean. I washed it myself,” she told cheering fans.
Baci further explained that the dish was carefully calculated to preserve taste and authenticity. “To keep the authenticity of the jollof rice, I applied some mathematics, and we will still watch it while it is cooking to make sure everything is right,” she said.
Moments before the cooking began, she prayed with Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre, who asked for strength and success on her behalf.
The night-long celebration featured live performances and entertainment. Musician Spyro thrilled the audience with his hit songs, while Nollywood actress Funke Akindele, fashion designer Veekee James, and content creators Tomike Adeoye and Enioluwa Adeoluwa excited the crowd with dance and cheer.
Even Guinness World Records acknowledged her effort, commenting on her post on X: “Best of luck, Hilda and team!”
