Heirs energies presents OML 17 success in China

At the 2026 China Oil and Gas Engineering Technology Exchange Conference, Heirs Energies positioned its operational strategy as a replicable model for unlocking value in mature oil and gas assets.
Speaking at the event, Uzoma Nwokorie, Senior Vice President of Engineering & Projects at Heirs Energies, presented the company’s transformation of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 17 as a case study in sustainable production growth.
Nwokorie explained that the company adopted a “repair, reuse, and re-engineer” strategy, supported by data-driven optimization, to revive previously underperforming assets.

This approach has delivered measurable outcomes, including the reactivation of over 100 wells and a significant increase in gas production.
He noted that the boost in gas output has also contributed to domestic power generation, reinforcing the role of indigenous operators in supporting Nigeria’s energy security.
He emphasized that Heirs Energies’ operational philosophy is anchored on practical, high-impact interventions rather than capital-intensive overhauls, making it both cost-efficient and scalable across similar brownfield assets.
“The message is clear: brownfield assets are not just declining; they are opportunities,” Nwokorie stated, highlighting the need for a shift in industry perception regarding aging infrastructure.
