The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has lauded the late Dr. Sunny Ajose for his commitment to progress and development, which positively impacted the lives of many residents in Badagry and across Lagos State.
Sanwo-Olu made the remarks during the lying-in-state ceremony of the late APC leader in Badagry.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the governor paid tribute to Ajose, highlighting his far-reaching influence.
He said that Ajose, a former head of service and key member of the Governance Advisory Council under the Lagos State Governor, was not only a dedicated public servant but also a visionary leader.
“We gather here today to pay tribute to a remarkable individual, Mr. Sunny Ajose, whose life and legacy have left an indelible mark on our community. Ajose was not only a former head of service but also an exemplary leader who served as the apex leader in Badagry,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
The governor praised Ajose for his tireless efforts to advocate for policies that promoted growth, inclusivity, and the well-being of Lagosians, saying that Ajose’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
“Throughout his 79 years of life, he embodied the values of integrity, compassion, and service to others, as we bid farewell to a great leader and a dear friend, let us carry forward his legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our community,” he said.
In his remarks, Chairman of Badagry-West Local Council Development Area, Mr. Joseph Gbenu, expressed that Ajose had touched the lives of everyone in Badagry, particularly through his support of fellow APC politicians.
Gbenu reflected on the late politician’s guidance and assistance, describing him as an invaluable figure to the Badagry community.
Other speakers, including Chief Sulaiman Iroko, representing APC Chieftains in Badagry, and Mr. Setonji David, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, also lauded Ajose’s role in fostering unity and development in the region.
In her emotional speech, Mrs. Fisher Ajose-Fisher, the daughter of the late politician, thanked the people of Badagry and Lagos for coming together to celebrate her father’s life and legacy. She urged the gathered crowd to embrace humanity, kindness, and love, following in her father’s footsteps.
