Suspected gunmen have abducted three residents and shot a woman during an attack on a residential estate in Ijebu Ode on Monday evening.

The attackers, said to be more than fifteen in number, invaded Ipojo Golden Estate in the Oke-Eri area around 7 p.m., causing panic among residents.

Eyewitnesses said the armed men forced their way into a house, searched the building, and kidnapped two women and one man.

While escaping into a nearby forest, the gunmen reportedly shot a woman, leaving residents terrified. Residents added that the suspects, most of whom were not masked except for one person, also tried to break into another home but were unsuccessful.

The head of the affected family, identified as Yesiru Badewa, was away on official duty when the incident happened.

A community leader, Kehinde, described the attack as shocking, noting that the estate had previously been peaceful.

He stated that the incident is a serious concern for the community and urged the government and security agencies to act quickly to restore confidence and ensure the victims are rescued.

Badewa also appealed for urgent intervention, noting that one of the abducted victims is ill and expressing fear that her condition may worsen in captivity.

The incident has reportedly created fear in the community, with many residents restricting their movement and daily activities.

Confirming the attack, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said security operatives had launched a rescue operation.

He stated that the command is fully aware of the incident and has activated tactical and intelligence responses aimed at rescuing the victims and tracking down the perpetrators.

He added that the police remain committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Ogun State
