A civil society group has urged President Bola Tinubu to order an investigation into the alleged missing or diverted N2.9bn from the Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd. (NIGCOMSAT) and the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA).
The group called on the President to direct the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, as well as the management of both agencies, to account for the funds.
It also urged Pres. Tinubu to mandate the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, alongside anti-corruption agencies, to investigate the allegations.
According to the group, the probe should extend to other cases of alleged financial irregularities previously documented in annual reports by the Auditor-General.
It stressed that any individual found culpable should be prosecuted where sufficient evidence exists, while all recovered funds should be remitted to the national treasury.
The allegations are contained in the latest report of the Auditor-General, published on Sept. 9, 2025, which flagged concerns over financial management in the two agencies.
The group described the development as a serious breach of public trust and a violation of Nigeria’s anti-corruption laws and international obligations.
It noted that accountability in NIGCOMSAT and NNRA is critical due to their strategic roles in Nigeria’s digital economy and national safety systems.
According to the group, any mismanagement within the agencies could undermine technological advancement, national development, and public safety.
The statement called for urgent action to ensure transparency, strengthen institutional oversight, and restore public confidence in the affected agencies.
