The Hope Alive Initiative (HAI) has commended the planned state visit of President Bola Tinubu to the United Kingdom (UK).

The group described the visit as a reflection of Nigeria’s growing influence in global affairs and the administration’s soft-power diplomatic approach.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by its Director of Press and Communications, Ernest Omo, the group said the visit underscored Nigeria’s strategic importance on the global stage.

According to HAI, President Tinubu and his wife, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, are expected to begin a two-day state visit to the UK on March 18 at the invitation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

The organisation described the visit as historic, noting that it would be the first of its kind in nearly four decades.

It added that the engagement would take place at Windsor Castle rather than Buckingham Palace, a development it said symbolised the strength of relations between Nigeria and the UK.

The group urged Nigerians to view the visit as a reaffirmation of the enduring friendship between both countries and a signal of renewed cooperation in diplomacy, trade, security and cultural excha nge.

According to the group,  a state visit represents the highest level of diplomatic engagement and reflects the UK’s recognition of Nigeria’s pivotal role as Africa’s largest economy and a key strategic partner.

The group expressed confidence that Tinubu would utilise the visit to hold high-level discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, expanding economic opportunities and deepening collaboration on shared priorities.

“These include climate action, counter-terrorism and sustainable development.”

It added that the president was also expected to highlight the contributions of the Nigerian diaspora in the UK while reinforcing cultural and educational ties between the two countries.

HAI further noted that the visit presented an opportunity for Nigeria to attract investment, promote innovation and strengthen its global standing.

The organisation also urged Nigerians to support the president’s reform agenda, which it said was designed to place the country on a path of sustainable growth and prosperity.

It cited the removal of fuel subsidies as a major policy decision that eliminated persistent fuel queues and significantly increased revenue accruing to states from the federation account.

HAI also highlighted the impact of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), noting that more than 1.16 million students had received over N206 billion in loans to support tertiary education since the programme was introduced in 2024.

According to the group, the unification of the foreign exchange market has enabled businesses and manufacturers to operate within a single exchange window, eliminating distortions associated with the previous multi-window system.

It noted that the policy had been commended by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) for reducing the activities of middlemen in the foreign exchange market.

HAI also cited improvements in fiscal discipline and macroeconomic indicators under the current administration.

“These include a decline in inflation from 34.19 per cent in 2024 to 15.10 per cent by January 2026, GDP growth of 4.07 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2025.

“This is the highest in three years and also an increase in Nigeria’s foreign reserves to 45.4 billion dollars as of December 2025”.

The group further stated that Nigeria’s relations with key allies, including the United States, had been strengthened through enhanced cooperation in counter-terrorism and financial crime prevention.

It also cited Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force’s grey list as evidence of progress in strengthening the country’s financial regulatory framework.

HAI called for broader national support for the administration, noting what it described as increasing political alignment across party lines in backing the president’s policy direction.
