President Mohammadu Buhari has been charged to hand over power to the South eastern part of the country.
A pressure group, Pan Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction Coalition (PANPIEC), gave the charge while saying it has started canvassing support for the actualisation of Igbo presidency, which according to them is the only way to achieve a better and one Nigeria.
Executive Secretary of the group, Mr Chuks Igbebu, disclosed this while briefing journalists at Abia- Hotels Umuahia.
He said it will be a balanced equation and for the spirit of sportsmanship to allow every geopolitical zone in the country to back the aspiration of the south east zone to produce president come 2023.
He further made it clear that their support will be a total contribution towards calming down agitations from various groups maintaining that south east is being marginalised in every angle of the nation’s polity.
He maintained that they are seeking for president of Igbo extraction because there are Igbo in other regions. He faulted the actions of some governors, who, instead of listening to agitations of the people for president of Igbo extraction, have decided to sit on the fence.
Ibegbu expressed optimism that Igbo president in 2023 would address the issues that are fueling the agitations by pro Biafran groups.
On the allegation that an Igbo president will lead to the division of Nigeria, he said the development would, instead, strengthen the unity of the country, noting that the Igbo have properties in every part of Nigeria.
His words, “The great people of the South East have right to insist that the Presidency in 2023 be zoned to the region since they are the only zone that have not produced the it the turn of the Igbos to president come 2023.
“The mood of the nation, today, is for an Igbo to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari. This will lead to political equity, unity and peace of the country. Any nation that desires peace and stability will ensure political inclusiveness. Nigeria should come to terms with this fact.”
He also urged all political parties in the state to avoid imposition of candidates on people creating unnecessary tension and political instability in the the state.
According to him, “Abia is God’s own state but it appeared that Satan is in control and also warned politicians to shun Fatherism and follow due process and guidelines of their political platform saying some of the Aspirants are complaining that they are being sidelined.”
He stated that the people will keep on pushing until the right is done.
“Our members in the North, West and Niger Delta are working tirelessly to achieve this goal adding that looters are longer wanted. We must rescue Abia state.”
In his contribution, the secretary, Oganihu ndi Abia, Mr Obinna Arungwa, told the electorates to obtain their PVCs, saying that is the only weapon to use and chase all the looters away from the state.
