Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has officially signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, marking a significant step in the state’s fiscal planning and governance.
The signing ceremony took place at the Light House in Awka.
The 2026 budget was increased from N757 billion to N766 billion following detailed deliberations by the State Assembly. According to the governor’s spokesman, Chris Anytime, the allocation prioritizes economic growth, infrastructure development, and enhanced social welfare programmes across the state.
“This budget is more than numbers — it is a strategic plan crafted to deliver on our administration’s promises.
“Resources have been allocated to meet critical community needs while ensuring transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance,”the spokesman said.
Also to the appropriation bill, Governor Soludo also signed three other laws, including the Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (Amendment No. 3) Law, 2025, the Anambra State Taxes, Levies and Presumptive Tax (Approved List for Collection) Law, 2025, and the Anambra State Correctional Service Law, 2025.
These laws are intended to strengthen governance, enhance service delivery, and promote sustainable development in the state.
The signing ceremony was attended by key government officials, including the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, the Majority Leader, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, Chief of Staff Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, and Commissioners for Justice and Budget & Economic Planning.
Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for their cooperation, emphasizing that their partnership is vital to the continued development and prosperity of Anambra State.
