Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has vowed to defeat insecurity in the state, describing it as a legacy challenge his administration inherited and is determined to make history.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, on Thursday following the
flag-off of an empowerment programme in Danmusa Local Government Area.

The statement reads partly: “We inherited insecurity — we did not create it. But we made a promise to our people that we will confront it with every strategy possible. By Allah’s grace, the situation is improving significantly, and we will not rest until insecurity becomes history in Katsina State.

“Empowerment is central to stabilizing communities, strengthening households, and reducing youth susceptibility to criminal activities. That is why we are distributing essential tools and startup capital to our people.

“Before we came into office, we did not fully know the depth of the challenges. But after winning, we saw the reality. That is why I decided to visit every community — to listen, learn, and ensure government decisions reflect people’s real needs.

“Whatever success we record today is by Allah’s mercy. With your cooperation and prayers, we will continue working for a safer and more prosperous Katsina.”

At the event, Governor Radda distributed 1,000 bags of rice, 100 motorcycles, 75 sewing machines, 11 vehicles, 75 grinding machines, and 100 POS machines with ₦100,000 startup capital each, among other empowerment tools.

He explained that the initiative aims to strengthen communities, support households, and reduce youth involvement in criminal activities.

The Governor also highlighted Katsina’s outstanding performance in the nationwide fertilizer distribution exercise, attributing it to transparency and ensuring genuine farmers received the inputs directly.

He further stressed ongoing reforms in agricultural mechanisation, including the procurement of modern tractors and the establishment of Agricultural Mechanisation Centres across local governments.

During his visit, Governor Radda paid a courtesy call to the palace of the District Head of Danmusa, Alhaji Dardau Abubakar Magajin Malam, and the District Head of Yantumaki, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Atiku.

Elders, ward heads, scholars, youth, and women leaders from both communities attended. The Governor said the engagement reflects his administration’s philosophy of collaborating with traditional rulers and grassroots leaders.

He cautioned political actors against exploiting insecurity for personal gain. “Anyone celebrating insecurity should fear Allah. Leadership cannot be built on the suffering of the people,” he said.

Governor Radda also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional and religious institutions, noting that allowances for District Heads, Ward Heads, and Imams have been increased to reinforce societal values.

On community demands, the Governor assured that engineers would inspect the Danmusa–Yantumaki road and the proposed bypass linking the General Hospital and the Secretariat, while hinting at a major development project for both communities.

The event was attended by top government officials and political leaders, including the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua; Members of the House of Representatives; APC National Legal Adviser, Barr. Murtala Aliyu Kankia; Chief of Staff Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; and Katsina State APC Chairman, Alhaji Sani JB Daura, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa, praised Governor Radda’s interventions, stating that decisive action by the government has significantly improved security and community welfare.
