Gov. Mbah, security, federal agencies mourn FRSC Sector Commander, Agbakoba
Gov. Peter Mbah and heads of security agencies and federal establishments on Thursday paid tributes to the late Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Enugu State, Mr Franklin Agbakoba.
In his tribute during the Lying-in-State of Agbakoba at the FRSC Enugu State Command Headquarters in Enugu, Mbah described him as a core professional committed to his duties.
Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Sunday Ajogwu, the governor noted that Agbakoba added value to safety on roads and FRSC officers and marshals in the state.
According to him, he worked hard while heading the FRSC by enduring value addition to the character and welfare of personnel under him.
“Agbakoba added value to FRSC duties by ensuring professionalism and the welfare of officers and marshals under the command.
“He was instrumental to the completion of the Special Marshals hall within the Command and other completed projects.
“Agbakoba demise is a great loss to the state, motorists, forum of heads of security agencies in the state, the entire FRSC and his family,”‘ he said.
Speaking, the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Mohammed Shehu, said that the Corps lost one of its finest officers, who had served the corps meritoriously over decades.
Shehu, who was represented by retired Deputy Corps Marshal, Chidiebere Nkwonta, said that the demise of Agbakoba was still shocking “however, we cannot question God as the reality is here with us”.
“As FRSC, we are mourning the death of one of our finest and someone who served with commitment and love for all those personnel under him.
“It is a great loss to all, especially the nation and Enugu State,” he said.
Speaking, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa, who spoke on behalf of Forum of Interagency Security Heads in Enugu State (FISHES), described Agbakoba as a dependable partner, committed professional and valuable member of the forum.
Giwa noted that the deceased contributions to collective security and road safety in the state were impactful and highly appreciated.
“The late Sector Commander was a regular and active participant in FISHES meetings, where he made useful contributions to security deliberations and brought his professional experience and practical perspectives to bear in addressing security and traffic-related challenges.
“We also recall his warmth, camaraderie and characteristic humour, which often added a refreshing touch to meetings and social gatherings organised to celebrate or bid farewell to members of the Forum.
“On behalf of the security heads, I commiserate with the family of the deceased, FRSC, and other colleagues and associates, praying that God Almighty grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.
Other dignitaries at the event, included: the Garrison Commander, 82 Divisions Garrison Command Brig.-Gen. G.A. Suru, State Commandant of NSCDC, Dr Elijah Willie, and the Controller of Corrections in Enugu, Mr Valins Obizue.
Others were members of the Association of Federal Heads of Establishments (AHFE), the Zonal Manager of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Enugu, Mrs Maureen Atuonwu, and the Traditional Ruler of Ibagwa Nike Kingdom, Igwe Emmanuel Ugwu, among others.
Agbakoba, who died on July 30 at the Niger Foundation Hospital, Enugu, would be buried by on Aug. 28, in his hometown, Onitsha in Anambra.
