Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has dismissed reports suggesting a clash between his office and the Council of Afobajes over the Awujale succession, calling them “completely false and misleading.”

A statement signed by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, said the governor held a respectful consultative meeting with the Council of Afobajes, similar to previous engagements with the Olori Ebis.

These discussions, the statement noted, aimed at harmonising traditional stakeholders and even prompted one kingmaker to withdraw a filed litigation.

“The discussions focused on matters of mutual concern in the interest of progress in traditional affairs within Ijebuland,” the statement said.

The statement also addressed circulating claims, stressing that phrases like “No Kuye, No Awujale” are entirely fabricated. “No Afobaje will attest to such an occurrence, as it never happened,” it added.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his commitment to due process, respect for traditional institutions, and a fair selection of the new Awujale.

The administration continues to prioritise dialogue, harmony, and the preservation of cultural values, the statement added.

Members of the public, traditional stakeholders, and the media were urged to rely on official sources and disregard unfounded rumours
