Kaltungo Local Government Area has come under commendation following an inspection tour by the Gombe State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Hon. Abdulkadir Mohammed (Wazirin Akko), who described ongoing projects in the area as impressive and impactful.
The visit was part of a statewide assessment of development efforts under Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the performance of all local government councils. The Commissioner was received by the Executive Chairman of Kaltungo LGA, Hon. (Dr) Iliya Suleiman MPI (Togor Yamban Kaltungo), alongside council members and staff.
In a statement signed by the Iliya Support Group, the Commissioner was briefed on the progress achieved across communities, after which the Chairman formally presented his First-Year Performance Scorecard.
The statement reads partly: “The Chairman has demonstrated measurable progress across key sectors within the last one year, with projects that reflect responsible leadership and inclusive development.
“The inspection revealed significant improvements in power supply, education infrastructure, community welfare, and market facilities, all of which are enhancing the quality of life for residents.
“The Commissioner expressed strong satisfaction with the quality and spread of the projects, commending the Chairman for effective stewardship and a development-driven approach.
“The Scorecard represents a transparent account of the administration’s interventions, further strengthening public confidence in governance at the local level.”
The inspection began in the Poshereng community of Kaltungo East, where the team assessed a newly installed electricity transformer, a constructed bridge, and a fenced community primary school. The delegation also visited Government Mega College, Kaltungo (Lakanje), which recently received a new transformer to improve learning conditions.
Other stops included the NTA Kaltungo premises, the upgraded Kaltungo Graveyard, and the Dogon Ruwa Grain Market in Awak Ward—locations reflecting targeted investments in social infrastructure and community development.
Throughout the tour, Hon. Mohammed praised the local government’s strides, noting that the improvements were visible and aligned with state development objectives.
Responding, Chairman Iliya Suleiman expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s visit and recognition, reaffirming that his administration remains committed to sustainable growth and the continuous strengthening of community structures
