The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) of Ghana has visited the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to understudy the implementation of the Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Oil and Gas Industry Safety Training and Competency Development Programme (MISTDO).

The delegation was received by the Acting Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC), Ms Ngozi Asogwa.

The visit was aimed at gaining insights into MISTDO’s implementation framework, achievements, operational challenges and lessons learned, as well as exploring the way forward for strengthening safety training and competency development in Ghana’s petroleum industry.

The engagement provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange of regulatory experiences in promoting industry-wide safety standards, workforce competence and operational excellence across the midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.

The visit underscores the importance of regional collaboration and institutional learning in advancing occupational safety and building a competent workforce within Africa’s oil and gas industry.
