Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has returned to Port Harcourt and attended a church service for the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, marking his first public appearance since the state House of Assembly initiated fresh impeachment proceedings against him.
The governor, who had been traveling abroad for undisclosed reasons, was accompanied by his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, and other senior government officials at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church.
The service, held annually to honor fallen servicemen and women and pray for the safety of serving personnel, became the first opportunity for Fubara to be seen publicly amid the political tension.
This is the third attempt to remove Fubara from office in under three years.
Despite the impeachment process and ongoing allegations of gross misconduct, neither the governor nor his administration issued comments on the proceedings during the church event.
