FRSC sensitises Jigawa residents to curb tanker, trailer accidents

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has sensitised residents of Jigawa to safety tips to curb Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) involving tankers and articulated vehicles.

Mr Ado Adamu, the Acting Unit Commander (FRSC), Ringim, said this on Saturday at a town hall meeting in Ringim, headquarters of Ringim Local Government Area of the state.

He said the Corps has embarked on a nation wide sensitisation exercise to address spate of tanker and trailer accidents.

Adamu said the exercise seeks to remind stakeholders of their roles toward preventing RTC, especially involving tankers and trailers.

“It is also to inform about the FRSC’s policies and programmes so as to interact, share ideas, identify strength and weakness with a view to come up with proper solutions to the menace,” he said.

He commended community and religious leaders, security agencies and transport unions for their support to the Corps.

The Emir of Ringim, Dr Sayyadi Mahmud, lauded the FRSC for traffic control and rescue operations.

Mahmud, who reiterated the council’s support to the Coros, enjoined motorists to observe traffic rules.

Also, the Sector Commander, Umar Masa’udu, said the Corps would collaborate with stakeholders to curb road accidents.

“We will join hands with you, local government, emirate council and security agencies to serve you better.

“What I’ve seen today is your total support and commitment to the FRSC project, and it will be registered to the Corps Marshal,” he said.

Badamasi Garba, Chairman, Ringim Local Government Council, commended the Corps over its commitment to safe road.

He pledged support to the Corps to enable it to discharge its duties effectively.

Highlights of the event include presentation of a plaque and awards to the Emir of Ringim, and five other personalities in recognition of their supports to the Corps.

The exercise was attended by the representatives of the state government, Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigerian Army, National Association of Road Transport Owners (NURTW), among others.
