Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has described the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) as a strategic national asset, noting that its operations align with government priorities on energy security, investment promotion and industrial expansion.
She made the remarks in Abuja on Tuesday, when she received Engineer Adeleye Falade, the Managing Director of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), for discussions on strengthening collaboration around economic diplomacy and energy investment.
Both parties agreed on the need to deepen cooperation between Nigeria’s foreign policy framework and the country’s energy sector to enhance global investment attraction and strengthen Nigeria’s economic visibility.
The NLNG Managing Director said the company continues to project Nigeria’s economic potential on the global stage, adding that ongoing progress on the Train 7 project would significantly boost production capacity from 22M to 30M tonnes per annum.
He explained that the expansion is expected to generate additional jobs, increase revenue inflows, and strengthen government earnings through taxes, dividends and local content development.
The Foreign Affairs Minister welcomed closer institutional collaboration aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s energy opportunities and improving investor confidence in the sector.
Both sides restated commitment to advancing cooperation that will enhance Nigeria’s global competitiveness and position the country as a leading investment destination in Africa.
