FIRS, France sign MoU to boost tax innovation

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr Zacch Adedeji has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of FIRS with France’s Direction Générale des Finances Publiques (DGFiP).
Speaking at the signing, the ECFIRS described the MoU as a testament to the shared commitment of both institutions to build stronger, more resilient, and forward-looking tax administrations through cooperation, knowledge exchange, and institutional partnerships.
He noted that the agreement will significantly deepen collaboration in digital transformation, creating opportunities for both authorities to exchange ideas on technology-driven compliance, enhanced taxpayer services, data-led enforcement, and emerging issues such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cross-border taxation.
Dr. Adedeji further emphasized the importance of workforce development and expanded bilateral cooperation in key areas of international taxation, including information exchange, transfer pricing, and BEPS-related initiatives. He reaffirmed FIRS’ commitment to a sustainable partnership that supports a modern, trusted, and globally connected revenue administration.
