A major fire outbreak on Sunday gutted parts of the Ogun State Guangdong Free Trade Zone in Igbesa, leaving several industrial facilities and nearby residential buildings affected.

Although the Ogun State government is yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the incident, residents of the area said the inferno was triggered by a gas explosion at a foam-producing company within the industrial park.

According to eyewitness accounts, the fire spread rapidly due to highly flammable materials in the area, extending beyond the factory premises and affecting surrounding homes before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Firefighters and other emergency agencies were later deployed to contain the blaze, while residents scrambled to salvage properties and ensure their safety.
