The Federal High Court has announced the dates for its 2025 Christmas Vacation and released the roster of judges who will sit during the holiday period.

The Court confirmed that the annual vacation will begin on Friday, 19 December 2025, with full judicial activities set to resume on Wednesday, 7 January 2026.

In a statement signed by the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, KSS, OFR, FCIArb. (UK), the Court said the schedule was issued in line with its procedural rules.

The statement reads partly: “The Court will commence its Christmas Vacation for the year 2025 on Friday, 19th December 2025.

“This vacation schedule is issued pursuant to Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).

“Court sittings shall resume in all Judicial Divisions on Wednesday, 7th January 2026.

“During the vacation, the core Judicial Divisions—Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt—will remain operational and accessible to the litigating public.”

The statement further clarified that only matters relating to the enforcement of Fundamental Rights, the arrest or release of vessels, and issues deemed to be of urgent national importance will be entertained throughout the vacation period.

According to the Court, Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite and Hon. Justice M. S. Liman have been assigned to preside over matters in the Abuja Judicial Division during the holiday.

In Lagos, Hon. Justice Akintayo Aluko and Hon. Justice Isaac D. Dipeolu will serve as Vacation Judges and will attend to all qualifying urgent cases filed within the period.

For the Port Harcourt Division, the Court designated Hon. Justice P. M. Ayua and Hon. Justice A. T. Mohammed to sit throughout the Christmas break.

In Enugu, Hon. Justice F. O. G. Ogunbanjo will be the judge on duty and will oversee matters brought before the division.

Justice Tsoho extended his Christmas and New Year greetings to all judges of the Court, wishing them a peaceful and fulfilling festive season.
