FG to build 500 CNG stations in 3 years - MDGIF ED reveals

The Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF) has revealed its intention to build 500 CNG refueling stations across Nigeria within the next 3 years.

A statement by the Executive Director of MDGIF, Oluwole Adama, said the Federal Government had concluded discussions with a leading Chinese Manufacturer to embark on the construction of the stations.

The Executive Director further disclosed that discussions centred on the creation of a Federal government-backed Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) promoted by MDGIF, and its Investment Partners.

Under the agreement, Compressed Natural Gas Auto Mobility Infrastructure Company , which will be used to deploy 500 integrated CNG refuelling stations, develop Liquefied

Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG), gas supply infrastructure, and provide CNG and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) transportation trucks forming a virtual pipeline across all states nationwide.

The Statement further noted that the project will help ease the long queues currently being experienced at existing CNG filling stations by expanding access to refuelling points and ensuring consistent supply through improved logistics and distribution systems.
