The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has reiterated the unflinching commitment of the Federal Government to the war against terrorism and other organised crimes threatening humanity.

Badaru restated the commitment on Wednesday, when the Secretary General, Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Maj.-Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi visited him in Abuja.

The IMTCT delegation was led by the National Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka.

This is contained in a statement by the Head of Strategic Communication of NCTC, Mr Michael Abu, on Wednesday in Abuja.

The minister expressed Nigeria’s readiness to partner with the IMCTC to strengthen the war against terrorism with a view to freeing the country and the world from terrorists and other non-state armed groups.

He urged the IMCTC leadership to work closely with the NCTC in its counter-terrorism efforts, pledging the support of the ministry of defence to all counter-terrorism efforts.

He pledged to discuss with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, to reactivate the deployment of officers of the Nigerian Military to the IMCTC and other training programmes designed to boost the existing relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.

Similarly, the IMCTC delegation also had meeting engagements with the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; the Chief of Defence Staff; the Chief of Defence Intelligence and service chiefs.

The meetings were part of the strategic engagement towards aggregating holistic actions against terrorism and activities of non-state armed groups.
