…Approves full tuition, accommodation, and vocational support till 2027

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the education and rehabilitation of the rescued Chibok girls, pledging N1,854,277,768 to ensure their full academic, psychosocial, and vocational support until 2027.

This was contained in a statement on Thursday signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education.

The statement reads: “The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, CON wishes to reaffirm to Nigerians and the international community that His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, does not play politics with the education and future of Nigerian children.

“More than a decade has passed since the tragic abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls in 2014. Through successive administrations, these girls, today young women, have remained a moral responsibility to the Nigerian State. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Federal Government is ensuring that the rescued 108 girls entrusted to the care of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs continue to receive comprehensive rehabilitation and academic support.

“Currently, sixty-eight (68) of the girls remain enrolled at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, an institution owned by opposition politician and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Despite persistent criticisms of this administration by such figures, Mr. President has continued to approve the payment of tuition, accommodation, and associated fees to AUN to safeguard the education of these young women.

“The Federal Government has committed the sum of N1,854,277,768 to complete the Chibok Girls Intervention Programme, covering tuition, accommodation, vocational training, psychosocial care, and other support up to 2027.

“This administration therefore calls on well-meaning Nigerians, including opposition leaders, to join hands in supporting these young women rather than indulging in grandstanding. True leadership is measured by tangible action, not empty criticism.

“His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains steadfast in his belief that the rescued Chibok girls must not only be remembered but also fully rehabilitated, educated, and reintegrated into society. This is Renewed Hope in action, prioritizing the future of every Nigerian child, regardless of political convenience.”

Officials confirmed that the funding covers tuition fees of 68 girls for 2025–2027, accommodation, vocational training, and psychosocial care. Each girl’s annual tuition is approximately N5,730,396, while outstanding fees from 2024/25 alone total N389,666,928.
