FG calls for EOI for ₦12bn digital economy research cluster

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has called for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the establishment of Digital Economy Research Clusters, backed by a ₦12 billion funding pool.
This initiative is designed to foster innovation in critical areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain Technology, Cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The program aims to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial application, positioning Nigeria as a competitive hub for global digital services.
Eligible research institutions, universities, and private sector tech hubs are encouraged to form consortia to apply for the grants.
According to the ministry, the funds will be disbursed to clusters that demonstrate high potential for job creation, indigenous technology development, and the ability to solve local economic challenges.
This investment reflects the government’s broader renewed hope agenda to diversify the economy and leverage technology as a primary driver of national growth.
