FG advances export initiatives to connect Nigerian gas to global markets

The Federal Government has revealed that it is advancing export-focused initiatives to connect Nigeria’s gas resources to global markets.

Speaking at the 21st Pipeline Technology Conference in Berlin, Germany, Minister of Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt.Hon.Ekperikpe Ekpo outlined Nigeria’s strategic direction for the gas sector in a rapidly evolving global energy landscape.

He noted that Nigeria is positioning itself as a reliable supplier in the global gas market, while ensuring that our domestic energy needs are met sustainably.

“Natural gas remains a strategic instrument for our economic transformation, industrialisation and energy transition. Through deliberate investments in infrastructure, we are strengthening supply across the value chain from domestic utilisation to regional integration and export expansion,” he said.

He further highlighted key projects such as the West African Gas Pipeline, the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Pipeline and the OB3 Pipeline as projects enhancing supply flexibility, supporting industrial growth and deepening energy access across Nigeria and the sub-region.

The Minister further added that beyond infrastructure, strong regulatory frameworks, investor-friendly policies and global partnerships will be critical to achieving long-term success.
