Federal High Court confirms June 23 launch of e-filing in Lagos division

...Court adopts hybrid model after stakeholder consultations
The Federal High Court has confirmed that the planned digitisation of court processes in its Lagos Judicial Division will officially commence on June 23, 2025, with a hybrid model that allows both manual and electronic filings to run concurrently.
In a statement signed by Chief Registrar, Sulaiman Amida Hassan, Esq, and issued on Monday, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, said the Court's decision to adopt a phased approach was based on feedback from key stakeholders and operational realities.
In a statement signed by Justice Tsoho, he said the model was designed to ensure a smooth and inclusive transition toward full digitisation, without disrupting ongoing access to justice.
“It is also to enhance access to justice and align with global best practices in judicial administration,” the statement reads partly.
The Court noted that the gradual implementation will take into account available infrastructure, user preparedness, and the technical capacity of court personnel.
Legal practitioners have been directed to activate their Legal Mail accounts via the Nigerian Bar Association's portal (https://nigerianbar.ng), as the dedicated email service is required to interact with the e-filing system.
The statement further assured that updates on the full digitisation timeline and additional guidelines will be issued in due course.
